“Don’t Call Me” Video Review by Andy Gesner
Greetings, cherished programmers! It’s Andy Gesner and the rest of HIP Video Promo, and we’re equipped with another video so full of soul that it will both warm and break your heart all at the same time. This comes courtesy of Sherri Sandifer and her brand new video for “Don’t Call Me.”
There’s nothing quite like an empowering woman who knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want, and that’s exactly the attitude singer-songwriter Sherri Sandifer emanates in her video for “Don’t Call Me.” Though the song itself has classic R&B elements, it’s clear that Sherri Sandifer has the pipes and the moves to back up her talent. She obviously also has the courage to leave her man with confidence without looking back. The video chronicles Sherri Sandifer’s slight struggle with letting go, but in the end, she knows she’s in the right when she belts out “I’m number one, not number two.” Add that with her looking natural in front of a piano and performing early nineties type of choreography a la En Vogue in front of a crisp, white background, and you know this beauty from Houston, Texas is going places.
Sherri Sandifer may come off as a novice to the game, but the moment you hear her sing, you know she’s not one to be trifled with. Though during the day, she is a local pediatrician in her hometown, it’s pretty clear that music is her calling. She’s a classically trained artist thanks to her alma mater, Yale, and without a doubt knows her way around a piano.
Songs like “Don’t Call Me” emanate Sherri Sandifer’s influences of Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan. Famed producer Dru Castro (who has worked with big names in R&B and soul, like indie.arie, Usher and Mary J. Blige) definitely recognized this and took over the reins when it came to Sherri Sandifer’s upcoming debut album, LoveRevolution.
Thank you so much to KES Music & Video Distribution and the Nia Entertainment Group for bringing a breaking artist like Sherri Sandifer to our attention.
